A sequestrant is a chemical additive that keeps the metal dissolved in the water. It seems to be something you have to reapply periodically (I'm working off some notes here, never had to use them myself). Some examples are Jack's Magic Pink Stuff, Proteam Metal Magic, GLB Sequasol; you want one that says HEDP, Phosphonic Acid Derivative, or Phosphonate in the ingredients.

I tried to chlorine tablet, and it didn't do anything for the stain... I am getting ready to close my pool for the winter, so I think I will do the AA test, then close the pool. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Stain Free is ascorbic acid, and that particular price is fairly good. Test a small area with a Vitamin C tablet before investing in buying a large quantity.

Hhmm a suggestion, I know one, as in my last post, test the water for metals before adding anything to counter something that may not exist.

If the metals have already deposited as a stain, they won't be in the water any more. A water test may well show no metals in the water, even though there are metals in the stain.
