Pentair SuperFlo VS Questions Before Purchase

Hi,

I've searched for over an hour and read the online instruction manual but I still have a couple unanswered questions regarding the latest version of the Pentair SuperFlo VS pump (342001).

Are the insides of the inlet and outlet fittings female threaded for 1.5" NPT pipe?

If not, does the pump come with threaded rings and 1.5" solvent weld pipe extensions with O-rings that would couple to the external threads of the inlet and outlet fittings? Or does a 1.5" pipe/ring kit need to be ordered separately?

When programming, it appears that you can set it up (perhaps by using 2-3 of the programs in conjunction) to make the pump operate 24/7, such that it doesn't turn off and require priming on every restart. Am I correct in this speculation? I watched/heard some conflicting info on a Youtube video regarding programming but the manual seems to state it can be programmed to run 24/7.

Welcome to TFP... a great place to find the answers to all your "Saintly" pool pump questions...

The SuperFlo VS comes with two 1.5" pump unions. They just screw right into the pump body...

You can schedule the pump for 24 hour operation.. You can have one schedule for 24 hours, or two or three schedules that total 24 hours...

Thank you very much for your reply, Jim R. That sounds perfect.

I've lurked on TFP for a while learning about the real chemical interactions and ramifications of balancing pool water. Such a relief to unlearn the basics as they were taught wrong by the labels on chemical products - now my CYA level doesn't rise out of control and chlorine actually sannitizes at low, reasonable PPM levels.

OK, to clarify something here that wasn't mentioned, the Superflo VS DOES have internal 1.5" NPT threads along with the external union threads (union rings and 1.5" slip pipe adapters included as mentioned by Jim). I just purchased the pump at our local pool store today and verified this. I'm looking forward to wiring and plumbing it in tonight if we don't get another inch of rain out of the blue.

Technically you can program the pump for 23hrs 59 seconds. Then it will restart at step 1 of the program.

You can also program the pump to not run a priming cycle.

The other question is why do you need it to run 24 / 7?
