HI TFP Team, I have a simlair issue at my mother's pool. She has an older IntelliFlo Variable Speed pump with a SolarTouch controller. It worked fine for a few years. It just now started displaying the same error message "Intelliflo pump com loss". After reading this thread I tested the cable by swapping it out. That didn't resolve the issue. I then got a used SolarTouch, from a neighbor, that installed an automation system. It initially turned on and worked fine(solar turned on, increased pump speed, and turn the valve to send water to the panels). After an hour, and me manually disabling solar, I got the same message "Intelliflo pump com loss". What are your thoughts? I am now thinking the problem lies with the pump. If you agree is there a thread that shows someone replacing the RS485 comm port that I can follow?

Thanks for your help!

What model Intelliflo VS pumps are we discussing?

You cannot inexpensively replace the RS-485 comm port in a VS pump. They are built into the pump drive or keypad which are expensive components to replace.

If the pump worked for an hour I doubt it is the pump. I woudl check the cable and connectors again.

It's the Intelliflo VS 011018. The pump seemed to work for an hour with the replaced SolarTouch (turned the valve to the solar on, increased pump RPMs, etc). However, it ultimately displayed the same error message. What should I be looking for with the cable and connectors? When I swapped out the cable it gave me the same error message so I assume the cable is fine.

FYI- even with the SolarTouch displaying "Intelliflo pump comm loss" the pump itself still says its connected. If I remember correctly it says display off and controlled externally. Then when I disconnected the cable (because solar isn't engaging) the pump still said it was controlled externally which I thought was strange. It didn't revert back to being controlled locally from the pump until I hard reset the pump (turned the broker off and back on). Not sure if this provides any more insight.
