Have a Pentair sand filter, I want to replace the sand due to don't know when it was done last and I'm getting sand in the pool. The problems is I don't know what size filter it is due to the label is missing any ugguestion on size and what size sand to get?

I added a skimmer sock to a return and its definitely sand getting into the pool, IDK maybe a lateral is broken or something. Needless to say I don't know how old the sand is. thanks

So it looks like the mpv is new or newish compared to the rest of the stuff. What have you been doing/trying to accomplish. What if any have you done that may have caused this.
Just started the pool with a new liner Pool last in 2018 season and if I remember I was having the same problem with sand in the pool. My only thought would be in get inside and inspect everything and replace since I'm going to take the MPV off
If you're shutting off pump and waiting 10 seconds or so before changing positions on the mpv then I'd say something in the filter is either apart or broken. A broken spider gasket in the valve can also cause this.
