Pentair Mastertemp 300 control board and memory pad.

I have a Pentair Mastertemp 300. The digital display backlight lights up, but does not display any numbers or error codes. I have replaced the memory pad, thermistor, and high limit switch. The heater runs and can be controlled by the memory pad for off and on, and it shows the small lights on the bottom of the pad. Before I purchase a new control board, I want to make sure that there are no other causes for the non display of temperature and ability to see up and down settings. My current memory pad and control board have 6 pins. I am aware that this model control board has been discontinued and replaced by Pentair with an updated model with 8 pins and a matching memory pad that has 8 pins. Now I am totally confused what to do. Can you help me troubleshot? I am a retired builder and am pretty handy fixing things.

Welcome to TFP.

By "memory pad" you mean membrane keypad?

If the display is out then the main board needs to be replaced.

The old control board is being replaced by the new Connected Heater control board p/n 461105. The new Control Board Kit 461105 comes with "6 button" membrane keypad. When replacing a control board on an older heater that has a 5 button keypad, you will also need to update the heater to have the 6 button keypad.

See the Pentair MasterTemp & StaRite Max E Therm : Parts Matrix for “Connected Heater” Update May 2021.

Yes, I meant membrane keypad. Thank you for verifying I should order the 461105 board. Some places online still sell the discontinued board. I will order the kit that comes with the new model 8 pin membrane keypad. I wasted money on the keypad I just bought. That's life !
