Pentair Mastertemp 200 - Loud Heater Whine

UPDATE: I've been messing around with things because I was convinced the suction end of the pump system was messed up. The goal was to get the flow / pressure correct before I messed with the heater more based on what everyone is saying. Again the roomba was moving very slow so I knew something was off.

I went through several steps to make sure there was no air leaks in the system. Then I shoved a wire snake down the skimmer and found some minor blockage. Once I worked through it the skimmer was better; yet still something seemed off. I had been wondering what the two vertically mounted disks were in the deep end and could always see some small debris/dirt round them. It dawned on me last night that they are the pool drains... If you observe the video of the system again you can see the pump intake has a Y split with two valves. The company that opened the pool had them both open. I closed the drain valve and the skimmer runs a lot better and the roomba runs across the pool now!! The bad news... The noise in the heater is now intermittent. I'll be looking at the bypass valve here soon and let you all know what I find.

Hi all,

This is my first post but I've been reading these forums for about a month now. We own a pool that was not taken care of very well for several years and have been on a mission to fix this heater. It all started with an E05 error that required us to replace the stack flue sensor, control board and membrane pad to get it running. We also replaced the thermal regulator for good measure. The unit functions but now has a loud whine while it runs. I've seen posts about bearings for pumps but not sure what to make of this from the heater itself. Below is a youtube video I recorded so you can hear it.

I look forward to your advice and thank you in advance!
Sir I'm a pool and spa technician the first thing that I would recommend is checking behind the screen on the air orifice inside the fan cavity mud daubers and wasps love to build nests in these areas obstructing the flow of air which creates a whistling noise it's a very common issue for the Pentair mastertemp heater series
