I purchased my Intellicenter that came with two Intellivalves # 521485 in Nov 2022, installing Dec 4, 2023. All worked fine till April 2024. When I turned on the Spa, the top valve for the Return moved correctly but the bottom valve for the Intake did not move. Just the Red lite flashing on the Auto/off and the yellow service light on solid. This indeed indicates a failure with the internal electronics. I could press the Mode switch to get the service light out and the Auto/off back to normal solid green. But in less than 1-minute since the SPA was on and 24vac was being sent to the valve on the spa side but the valve not able to turn, the same error lights ( auto/off flashing red and service light on ) returned. Eventually ALL lights on the valve went out and would not return. I confirmed 24vac from the board was ok and installed an older CVA valve that worked fine in its place.
I called Pentair as my valve was still under the 1yr warranty and they will send out a replacement. I confirmed with Pentair that the intellivalve with the LED's # 521485 was still in the line ( NOT discontinued ) and that is what I will be getting. He also stated that the valve had a higher than normal failure rate has been seen but they were making corrections, and the failure rate has decreased. Time will tell if my other valve will fail or not. Cost of the newer style is about $235 while the older CVA is $150 or so.
Looking forward to opening up the failed valve as they do not want it returned.
