Pentair IntelliTouch - Pump Wiring... Low Voltage Only?

Hi Guys,

With the IntelliTouch system can the Intelliflow pumps be controlled via the low voltage only? I'm taking over a half finished pool and the pumps are wired directly to the distribution board and not through the relays in the i9 system. Also the pool has savy & laminar lights but no transformers installed, can the lights run off the 12v Aux ports of the personality board or will the load be too much? Any information you guys can help me with would be much appreciated.

B,

The IntelliFlo gets 240 AC volts constantly from a GFCI circuit breaker.. Then a data cable it attached to a small plug on the side of the pump and connected to the Com port on the Personality board in the IntelliTouch. The IntelliTouch uses the cable to talk to the pump and tells it when to run and at what speed.

To run any kind of external lighting you need to run 120/240 volts AC through one of the high voltage Aux relays (for control) and then to a step down transformer to provide 12 volts AC to lights.

I did not know that the IntelliTouch had any 12 volt aux ports... If you are talking about the ports marked Aux1 thru Aux9, they are used to energize the Aux relays only..

Do you not have a manual?

Thanks,

Jim R.

Ok thanks, so just im getting this correct the pumps can have constant power directly from the distribution board and do not need to be wired to the Intellitocuh relays? As long as I use the low voltage cable into the coms ports on the board? is there a limit to how items can go in the coms port, I can think of 10 calbes off the top of my head but im sure there will be more?

Are the high voltage relays just for lighting then? I would of wired all the pumps through the relays but this sounds like its not needed if you use intelliflo pumps.

next to the terminal that the spa side remote connect to there low voltage aux pins that can be connected to (not the aux for the relays they are on the opposite side of the board) so was wondering what they could be used for.

I haven't got any manuals unfortunately, is there a PDF version anywhere I can download?

thanks for your help

B,

I believe that to have more than 4 IntelliFlo pumps you need some kind of expansion units.. But to be honest I don't know that for sure. Our website is mainly for residential pool owners, so really large pools with many pumps is not something that most of here know too much about...

And here is a link to more... IntelliTouch Systems - Pool and Spa Controllers & Automation - Pentair

Be glad to help if we can, but with a project your size, I suggest that you call Pentair and find a local Pentair rep.

Thanks,

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the links they will prove very helpful in trying to work out whats going on. Looks like I will have to use multiple load centres and expansion boards to get the desired results. Unfortuatly the plumbing isnt correct either so it might just be easier to rip everything out and start again.
