Pentair Intelliflow VSF pump on a 24 seven schedule ie. Pool 6 AM to 6 PM and 6 PM to 6 AM Pool High 6:05 PM to 9PM randomly restarts at 4 AM in the morning every two or three days or so. It may restart two days in a row or go three or four days with no issue. No egg timers are set. RPM 1700 @ 25GPM. I've done a reset on the Easytouch Control panel. Pump basket is clean, both cool and hot days restarts. Any thoughts

Damon,

Try this...

Schedule Pool for 8 am until 8 am.. Set your Pool speed to the lowest speed you want to run. This will run the pump 24/7.
Schedule Pool High for 6 pm until 9 pm.. This will increase your pump speed to "Pool High speed"

Your schedule is just confusing the EasyTouch. Egg-timers should all be at 12 hour default, unless you really need one for something.

You should also go into the Service mode, and using the pump's display panel, see what version F/W is in your pump.

Please let us know what you find.

Do you have a Saltwater pool???

Thanks,

Jim R.

Damon,

Your pump F/W is not the ones that have the com port issue... :goodjob:

I love ScreenLogic, but it does have an issue where it will let you enter a bazillion schedules, and not tell you that the max is 12, including any egg-timers not at the default of 12 hours. It can also not show some 'old' schedules in the EasyTouch.. I don't think this is your problem, but something to keep in mind.

If you have a salt water pool the schedules that I suggested will allow the cell to run 24/7.. With your original schedule, when in "Pool High" the cell would be off, as the system has to be in the pool or spa modes for the cell to work.. "Pool High" is not (by itself) the same as "Pool".

I think you should be ok, now, but if the problem comes back, please let me know..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Damon,

I am not a "flow" kind of guy and always recommend the RPM mode..

That said, it is your pool and you should run it the way you want...

Just keep in mind that you should either run RPM or GPM, but not mix both at the same time, as that can also cause the system to get confused.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Maybe I missed something when setting up screen logic. Did I set it up incorrectly? I thought it was either GPM or RMP selection. What is your thoughts on a good run time and speed (RPM)?

I'd try running in speed (RPM) mode to keep the pump from "thinking" about it.
I know every pool is different but what is "high" set for pump speed and why are you running it that way?

You might be pulling some air to go dry in high speed if skimmers aren't clear, which can cause the pump to shut down. Most of us here would just run at the lowest speed necessary to satisfy swcg/heater and keep the pool skimming well. I'm at 24/7 1300rpm using less than 200 watts and getting ~30gpm.

Damon,

It is best if all the speeds are either RPM or GPM... What seems to sometimes not work is to have one circuit speed set for RPM and another circuit speed set for GPM.

This set up page should either be all RPM or All GPM...

Show me your same set up screen...

Thanks,

Jim R.

Looks perfect to me... :goodjob:

Question
yesterday pump was running the Pool High Schedule 6PM to 9PM. at 9PM the pump turned off. It did not continue on to the default 8AM to 8 AM 24hr run Schedule. Any thoughts. This morning I remove the Pump High schedule
form the schedule to see if there would be any shut downs this 24hr cycle.

Damon,

Did you manually turn on Pool High or was it turned on by your schedule?

I like the idea of running just "Pool" for a few days and see if the pump continues to run.

It should not shut off...

Is this an old pump or is it newish???

Should not be necessary, but one thing you can do is to set the Pool Egg-timer to "Don't shut off".. (I would not do this until you see of the pool circuit runs 24/7 by itself..)

Thanks,

Jim R.

I checked my pump status 45 minutes ago via screen logic and saw the the pump shut down around 9:30 am and remained off. I moved pump, pump high and water feature eggtimers form default 12 to Don’t stop and the pump started. What is going on here🤔.

Pool High was started by the schedule. I restarted last night around 9:30 pm. Pump almost 3 years installed.
Prior to your last post Jim.

Damon,

I have no idea what is causing your problem, but at first blush, I would assume you are having a com port issue.

1. Setting your Pool schedule to run 8 am until 8 am, should cause the pump to run 24/7 without doing anything else
2. Setting Pool High to run from 6 pm to 9 pm, should not cause the pump to shut off at 9 pm..
3. Egg-timers are used when you want to manually turn something on and shut off automatically when the egg-timer times out.
4. You should not have to set any timers to "Do not shut off".. But if you do, I would only do it for the Pool Circuit.

Check to see what Circuit Function is for Pool High.. Make sure it is set to "Generic"..

Using the little 3 " LCD on the main panel, check to see that the number of schedules in the EasyTouch matches the number of schedules in ScreenLogic.

If the pump shuts off again, go out to the pump and see if the pump's display is showing "Display Not Active" or not??

Thanks,

Jim R.

I will check the panel later today when home. But here is a snapshot from screen logic config. Does not show Generic
