I’ve probably missed the thread in my searches addressing run-times for running the filter system. Given the following, is there room for improvement or other considerations?

- year-round outdoor plaster pool located in Tucson, AZ
- 11,500 gallons
- we utilize an auto-cover at times, use a Dolphin robot cleaner that runs daily for 2.5” hours, and have a Pentair Intelliflo variable speed motor controlled through a Pentair Intellicenter.
- Ou largest containment is desert grit/clay followed by bugs committing suicide in the twilight hours. I’ve spotted a little algae in two shaded spots that I’ve been brushing daily to minimize.
- We are on a demand-use plan so for the summer we turn off all pool equipment from 3-7 p.m. During the winter 6-9a and 6-9p is no use time for the equipment.

I expanded the summer cycle so we’re now running:
- 7-9 a.m. cleaner speed at 3000rpm
- 9-3 p.m. low speed at 1500 rpm
- 7- 10 p.m. low speed
- 10-midnight cleaner speed

The pool has been fairly stable:
3-4 free chrloine
0.5 CC
40 cya
70 TA
350 CH

Your advice is much appreciated for a newbie pool owner!

S,

If you have a robot, why do you have a cleaning schedule running at 3000 RPM??? What is this for??

I concur with Oly.. You are running your FC way too low and that is why you have algae.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I run my Intelliflo VSF at 1100 rpm (less than 200 watts), skimmers only.
No reason to run faster than that, that I see. Run my Warrior SI each day, only because I have more trees than I care to admit.

It seems your schedule and plan is way more complex than needed.
