I have a 16 year old 35K gallon gunite pool with a spill over spa, with the following equipment:
- Pentair Intelliflo VS Pump (new)
- Pentair FNS Plus Filter
- Raypak NG Heater
- Jandy Control System
- Jandy Actuator Valves
- Blower for Spa
- (2) pool lights
I would like to replace the Jandy controller and convert from chlorine to a SWG. I've been looking at the Pentair EasyTouch and Intellicenter. The EasyTouch looks like pretty old technology, so I'm thinking IntelliCenter is probably the way to go. The bundles I'm considering are the Pentair i8PSIC40 kit (#521903) and the i5PSIC40 (#521906) which include the SWG and (2) actuator valves. What I'm not clear on are the number of relays I require for the above equipment, and if the i5PS would do it, would I still have enough capacity to add an Intellichem system or some landscape lighting in the future.

Chuck,

You need a relay for anything that is controlled by turning on or off its AC power.

One of the relays is configured to be the pump/filter relay only. You can't use it for anything else.

Pentair Intelliflo VS Pump (new)
- Pentair FNS Plus Filter
- Raypak NG Heater
- Jandy Control System
- Jandy Actuator Valves
- Blower for Spa
- (2) pool lights

The only things in your above list that use the High Voltage relays are the Spa blower and the Lights. If both of your lights come on at the same time now, then you only need one light relay.

So, as a minimum, you need 3 relays (Pump/Filter, Blower and Lights) Think about the future.. Equipment pad light, landscape lights, and ??

I always recommend an 8 relay unit, I started with a 4 relay unit and had to upgrade to an 8 relay unit, and I have a dirt simple pool with no spa.

Thanks,

Jim R.

We recommend an SWG rated for 2x your pool volume. That being said and given you location, a SWG rated at 60,000 gallons should work okay.

Intellicenter i8PSIC60

Jim and Gene,

Thanks for advise. I'm going to go with the i8PSIC60 kit, but after looking on-line and talking with a couple of stores in my area, I can't find one anywhere. One of the stores I was talking to said he would check with his distributors today and see if he could find one, but he wasn't very hopeful. Can you guys recommend any of the on-line sellers who you use for Pentair equipment? I'm wait wait listed right now at Polytec, but they have no idea when they will receive; maybe not even this year.

Again, many thanks for the advise.
