Pentair Intelli Touch control panel turns on but not off

Help.... Just bought this house and control panel worked fine. Now all the sudden it will allow me to turn anything I want on but will not turn it off. And the little green led next to button does not light up now... Manual says wiring or bad control panel which cost as much as $550. ..... Would like to be sure its that before I buy one... Could I check it any other way ?

James,

Welcome to TFP.. A great place to find the answer to all your pool equipment questions... :shark:

Do you have the IntelliTouch or the EasyTouch panel? They look similar and the same manual covers them both.

Both units have some built in delays, such as time to allow the heater to cool down, etc.

Also, with the temperatures as low as they have been, it could be that your freeze protection has kicked in and is just telling the pump to run so that it will not freeze.

So, tell us more... there are a number of little lights next to buttons, so without additional info, it will be hard to troubleshoot. Which button??

Do you have ScreenLogic that allows you to control the system from you phone or PC?

If not, what does the little 3" LCD say on the main panel? (Assumes you have an EasyTouch)..

The more you tell us about your equipment the better our answers can be..

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.

I have the intelli Touch , Normaly when I press one of the buttons such as pool pump or spa pump or even pool light it will beep and a green light comes on next to button and then when I want it to go off I just press it again and it beeps and that option turns off as well as the little green light next to the button. Now when I push a option such as pool light it beeps and light in pool turns on but the little green light next to the button does not come on and it will not go off until I either turn off breaker to main system or go to main system and put in service mode then I can control from that box. If I put back in auto mode the light comes back on...

Hey James,
The indoor controller seems to be able to talk to the outdoor controller since it will turn the pool light (or other feature ON), but maybe the outdoor controller is not communicating back to the indoor controller? (both controllers have a copy of the same program in them, but I forget if the outdoor controller sends back a status/ack to light the green led). Try pressing the "heat" button on the indoor controller (should be next to menu at the bottom)... that will initiate a communication with the outdoor controller and you'll get an error if it fails. You'd also get a similar error trying to modify the program.

If the communication fails it's likely that the rs485 chip is shot, but these can be replaced (there's 1 on the indoor controller and depending on motherboard version, 1 or 2 on the outdoor). If you need to buy a new indoor controller you can often find them much cheaper on that auction site.
