Hey Everyone,
I have a 10,000 gallon pool down in Florida with an iChlor 30 SWG that is not able to keep up. I've taken it to a retailer to have it tested and they said it appears to be working, but this is my second summer down here with this unit and last season it was working fine while running at 30-40 percent. I am currently dealing with black algae and my inability to get it under control led me to get the unit tested. Yesterday I shocked the pool and the chlorine was up to 6ppm. Today, my numbers are as follows:
Chlorine - 1.0ppm
Chloramines - 0
CYA - 50
TA - 50
CH - 450
Salt - 3800
Does anyone have experience with this unit working, but not producing an optimal amount of chlorine? It has been running at 80% all day and the chlorine was just tested at 1.0ppm with 0 chloramines. Is it possible the black algae is just overwhelming the unit and I need to keep shocking the pool until I have the algae under control?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
