I have been wanting to convert to SWG, particularly Pentair IC60 since all my equipments are made by Pentair. My pool is approximately 20,000 gallon chlorine pool, with concrete boulder waterfall, concrete coping and decks. I have no metal ladder or anything else. The only hesitation is if salt water will be bad for concrete (even if I balance my chemistry right).
What are your thoughts?

I live in Katy, Texas, where it is summer all year long, and my pool gets the brutal sun in the afternoon. Attached is a picture of my pool.

Thank you for all inputs.

These are my equipments
Pentair Clean & Clear 520
Pentair Intelliflo VSF 3 hp
Pentair Whisperflo 1 hp (for waterfall)
Chlorinator Tower
2 skimmers
3 Intellibrite white lights
Dolphin Triton Plus

K,

I have three saltwater pools in the DFW area. In total, they have been saltwater pools for more than 20 years. None of them have caused any damage of any kind that can be related to "saltwater". They all have concrete decking.

The salt level in a pool is about the same as what is in your tears. Do you really believe that will cause your decking to fall apart?

I'd just as soon fill my pools in as have them not be saltwater pools.

You are worrying over nothing.

Just out of curiosity... what made you think that a saltwater pool would cause your decking to fall apart?

Thanks,

Jim R.

My next door neighbor's pool builder advised me to stay away from it :(

Good to know that it's ok, I am quite sick of going to Pinch a Penny every so often to get fresh liquid chlorine. Thank you for the advice!

I hear this a lot, particularly from people in Texas. I don't know why. The pool builders must be getting a kick back on the chlorine. It's total nonsense. I've got a concrete pool with a saltwater generator, no problems at all.

:D you're probably right! If I had bought the SWG back then, it would have saved me some $$$. Thanks for sharing..

Does your pool have Pentair automation?
If so, the Pentair IC60 will integrate easily and be easily adjustable via the Pentair automation panel.
If not, you may want to consider a Circupool RJ60+

Without automation, the IC60 only has a very limited number of run percentage settings.
The RJ60+ can be set in 5% increments.

Fill out your signature with pool, pool equipment (manufacturers and model numbers) and test kit info.
This assists us in responding to your questions without having to ask about your equipmemt each time.

Yes, I changed my signature and I have all Pentair equipments, provided by the builder.

You can have Pentair pumps, filters and heater.

Automation is a totally separate piece of equipment. Pentair automation would be an EasyTouch or Intellicenter. Its basically a rectangular tan colored box near the equipment pad with all the electronics in it.

Can you control your pool from your smart phone?

Post a few pics of you equipment, including times, electrical boxes, etc near the equipment pad.

We have Intermatic timers. In terms of automation such as Easytouch or Intellicenter, we have neither. We just run back and forth :D

Since I would like to upgrade to the SWG, I thought might as well get the Easytouch 8 and also the Screenlogic with it. It's due after 5 years.

Please ignore the extra Whisperflo on the far right, ours broke during the freeze, and we had to replace only the casing. Pump is ok.

Thank you

It appears you have a spa attached to the pool. It's important to add that to your signature also.

You would be better served with the Intellicenter. No need for the separate ScreenLogic with Intellicemter as it has a built in interface that works like ScreenLogic.

Be sure to get the Intellicenter with the integrated SWG and one that can control both the pool and the spa.
One like this:

There is an Intellicenter with swcg for sale by a member in the Coffee Bar. Check it out.

Can anybody please tell me if this listing on Ebay

can be used with SWG IC-60?

The part # that seller listed is 522990.

Thank you
That is litterally only the box. Nothing else. As far as I can tell from the ad.
