Pentair FNS DE filter and DE in pool

I believe I have DE in the pool since when I run my brush on the bottom there seems to be a light cloud of debris on the bottom.

I took apart my filter and noticed the rubber plug with screen that is attached to the internal air bleed tube on the manifold was off and loose. Would that cause DE to be in the pool?

Holes in the grids or cracked internal pipe could allow DE into the pool.

Are you sure it's DE in the pool?
