I just found out that I have a cracked manifold. I have a Pentair FNSP 60 filter and was able to find a replacement part online for half the cost of the OEM part. The main difference I see is that on the top of the manifold, the OEM has a tube with a filter at the end. The other manifold simply has holes where the filtering takes place. Does anyone have experience using the cheaper manifold? Will not having this tube cause issues. I understand the purpose of the tube which is to prevent clogging due to DE backup which often happens at the top, but I'm just curious if anyone has had experience with this?

Hi

The Air Bleed Tube isn't necessary but it allows air inside the Filter Tank to exit the Tank faster than the older Manifold without the Tube present.

I have one of the old Manifolds installed in one of my 2 DE Filter Grid assemblies and my other in-use Grid assy has the black Manifold which includes the Tube.

The only difference in the Manifolds is that it takes longer for air to exit back into the Return side into the pool vs the black Manifold with the Tube.

The generic design eliminated the Tube and uses the Mesh built into the Manifold body to allow for air to exit the Manifold.
