Pentair ECDE90 "Minion" filters. Filter part # WRONG on label!!! FYI for new owner!!
Just a quick heads up for any new pool owners...
If you have a Pentair ECDE90 filter for your pool and are looking for a replacement filter, DO NOT use the part number on the label located on the side of the filter!! It is probably incorrect!
I'll include the picture of the label on my filter below. It states that the filter uses a filter part # 196040. That is NOT the correct filter replacement for the ECDE90! The 196040 filter is some ginormous looking deal for a different filter housing! If your filter has the black plastic top and bottom on the filter element inside, you'll know if you have one, the CORRECT part number is 178656.
Again, the CORRECT part number replacement filter element for the ECDE90 is 178656, NOT the 196040 that *may* be indicated on the label on the filter itself!! I found this out after opening the box to the replacement and saying "Well that ain't gonna fit!!!" I found the correct part number on Pentair's website on a pdf parts breakdown for the ECDE90.
Just wanted to share in case someone had one of these and was looking for a replacement element.
