Hello all. This is my first post so try to take it easy on me. :p I have recently put down a deposit on a 16x32 vinyl inground pool and am considering the addition of the Pentair EasyTouch base system (#520591). I am having a couple of Intellibrite led lights installed in the pool and am wondering if each light is assigned/wired to a separate accessory button or if all lights are assigned/wired as one accessory. I hope i have the terminology right. Just hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

tgb,

Welcome to TFP... A Great resource for all your pool automation questions.. :swim:

You can do it either way. Generally most people want the two lights to be in sync where both lights have the same color at the same time. When doing it that way, then only one relay is required.

But if you want the ability to have the lights be different colors at the same time, then one relay for each light would be required.

Keep in mind this unit is for a Pool only, so if you have a pool and spa it will not work for you..

Besides controlling your lights, what else did you want the system to do for you?

Thanks for posting,

Thanks for the quick reply. I am planning on an intelliflo vs pump, a 175k btu ng heater, and 2 deck jets. I am considering adding a stenner pump in the not too distant future. If I change my mind and decide to go with salt water system is the easy touch panel able to be upgraded to control the swg?

Regarding the lights my suggestion is to have them set up for independent operation. It's not much more money to go that route. Additionally, they can still work together if you want... just depends on how you set them to run when turning them on.

Yes, the panel can also handle the SWG.

If I set them up for independent operation I would end up using 2 of the 3 available relays. That may cause a problem down the road if I want to add another feature to the pool. Also, am I able to connect more than one device to the "com" port? From what I've read the vs pump connects there and if I decide to add screenlogic later can I wire that to the same com port?

tgb,

More than one device can be connected to the comm port connector(s).

Buying an EasyTouch without ScreenLogic is like eating a tough steak without a knife. :p ScreenLogic makes using and programming the ET about 10 x easier than using the little 3" LCD and menu buttons.

If you know for sure you are going to get a SWCG, then you should buy an ET that comes with the built-in power supply and the SWCG as it is often cheaper. The SWCG can be added later, but you will also have to buy the external power supply.

I have the ET 4 and have wished many times I had bought the ET 8. The SWCG (or Stenner) uses the Pump/Filter relay, Aux1 is for the pool light, Aux2 is for the pad light, Aux3 is for landscape lighting, which uses up all the relays...
