Pentair Easy Touch not supplying power to Booster Pump

I am a new poster to this group. I installed a new Polaris PB4-60 Booster Pump and it won't start. I have confirmed proper install of the pump. It appears to be an issue with the Pentair Easy Touch panel. There are 240 volts going in to the Booster Pump relay and zero volts coming out. I've ensured the Variable Speed Pump is running and to the best of my knowledge disabled any delays. I can't find any programming reason why the power wouldn't be coming out of this relay. Is the relay bad? Is there some other programming that needs to be disabled or reset?

Thank you for any suggestions as to how to fix this and get my booster pump running.

Welcome to TFP.

What Pentair automation system do you have? EasyTouch? IntelliCenter?

Is it a new use of this relay?

Did you check that the relay control plug is connected into the AUX jack you are using?

Please create your signature withd etails of your pool and equipment.

Post pics of your open panel showing the relays and wiring.

gigi,

The very first thing to check is will the Aux relay controlling the booster pump come on when you manually push the Aux button on the main panel.

If the relay closes and the booster pump runs, then it has to be a configuration or programming issue.

When you push the button, if the relay does not close, (no clunk noise). then it can be a couple of things...

1. It could simply be a bad relay.

2. It could be that the driver chip is bad and is not telling the relay to turn on.

Some options..

Do you have more unused Aux relays? Do their relays make a "clunk" sound when the button is pushed. If so, you could try using one of them.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hi Jim,

Thank you!

When I push the Booster Pump relay button manually, it does not make the clunk noise. The other relays do. I have 4 relays total and they are all being used at this time.

Do you think I should replace the relay?

thanks so much.

Now flip down the top low voltage panel and see where the relay control wires are plugged into the AUX sockets.

Post a pic of what you find.

This may be interesting. The wire going to "J9" is not plugged in and that seems to be the one going into the Booster Pump Aux.

Let us know if things work when you plug the relay into J9.

That fixed it! Booster pump running and Polaris sweeper is running finally after months of not having a sweeper. I suppose my previous pool person (who I dismissed when it became clear he was dropping more balls than he was catching) must've unplugged that wire for some reason. Now onto cleaning my filter (for the first time)!

Thank you Allen & Jim!

gigi,

I guess I should have added "Did some idiot, unplug the relay" to my list....

To give your ex-pool guy some credit, he probably unplugged the relay to make sure that voltage did not go to your bad pump, or open wiring.

Glad you got it working... :goodjob:

Thanks,

Jim R.
