Pentair Dynamo pump lid hard to get back on

Hi,

Every time I open the lid to clean out the pump basket, it's nearly impossible to get it back on. It's almost as if we can't push it down hard enough for the tabs to line up to lock it in place.

It is a Pentair DYN-N2-1HP Dynamo Two Speed AG Pool Pump that I've had for 3 years.

I'm also wondering if this could be caused by me doing something wrong when opening the lid. When I need to empty the basket, I:
1. Turn water shutoff to pump to OFF
2. Put filter to CLOSE

The lid comes off with a little extra elbow grease, but takes herculean effort to get back on.

Am I doing something wrong? What can I do to help the lid go on and off easier.

Have you lubed the o-ring on the lid? Also, you don't need to tighten it down really tight, just enough to stop it from leaking.

Yes, we lube the out of it every time, but can't seem to get it back on. We can't even get it to the point where we can turn it to even slightly catch the tabs to stop the leaking.

Have you (or someone else) replaced the o-ring in it?

No, o-ring has never been replaced. I just ordered a few. Hopefully, that will solve the issue.

They tend to swell up over time, so hopefully that will help.
