Pentair 115 or 230?

I need help, I just bought a new pentair superflow and there is a switch to select 115 or 230 and im not sure which to use. I had a superflow VS and there was no selection on it. I have a normal single pole 20 amp breaker wired to a gfci outlet then wired to the pump all using normal 12/2 wire.
The superflow VS i had was very quit even on the highest setting, my pump is about 20 yards from my pool and i could never hear the pump running.
with the new superflow (Non variable speed) i set it to 115 and it was extremally loud. The water flow was about as good as my old pump but I can hear it quit a bit from my pool. I tried moving the switch to 230 and it did make it quit a bit quiter but the water flow was reduced alot.
I guess i can live with the reduced water flow but is it safe to run it at 230, im not good with electric and didnt know if i needed a double pole breaker.
Thank you in advance for any advice.

How many and what color wires are run to the pump? If you have 115 service, you have to have the pump on 115. If you have 230 service the pump should be on 230.

Post a picture of the wires connected to the pump.

My guess, with the single pole 20A breaker, your service is 115.

What RPM were you running that was noisy. My guess is you need to change the programming to lower the RPM. No need to run full speed.

Do you have a Superflo VST pump model 342002?

The manual says it does not have a switch for 115V/230V and automatically detects and runs on the correct voltage.

What pump do you have that has a voltage switch?

Post pics of your pump CB.

The maximum performance of the pump is throttled when running with 115V. At lower speeds the pump performance is the same at 115V or 230V.

If you have the pump plugged into a GFCI outlet you probably should stay with 115V.

With a VS pump there is usually no reason to run it more then 2400-2800 RPM. VS pump are best run slow.

I wish i could lower the rpm but this pump doesnt do that. My old superflow VS did but this is not the variable speed one or i would unless you know a way to do that on a regular pentair superflow.

You choose to get a singe speed Superflow pump and that is what you get.

Lesson learned for your next pump.
