Are they going to cover the exposed rebar before they plaster? My understanding is the rebar needs to be complete covered by gunite/hydraulic cement or you will risk rust spots appearing on the plaster from the rebar.
are they going to soften that edge on the 3rd stair down so it matches the curve of the 4th?
Oh yeah, for sure. I am going to make sure they do it right. It was their mistake to begin with. I talked to a buddy who has does concrete, he said as long as they clean it up properly it will be fine.

I think with that visual, what was missing from the conversation and falling comments before was that the second step will now be extended into the bench/platform. I feel it should be clear for users to identify the extended area as a bench and not a landing with more steps to follow. I'm suspect all will end well and without issue. To Allen's insurance point, unrelated to that bench, but I always encourage new pool owners (or anyone with sizable assets) to obtain an umbrella insurance policy to sit above all existing policies. And if an issue does happen, and it's your fault for allowing it to be built, you'll have plenty of coverage!
I'm not crazy about the one sharp point of the coping by the cuddle cove in contrast to all of the other radius curves, but I see why it was done. Outside corners just make me nervous.

Oh yeah, the sharp point is also a mistake by the PB. Honestly, that's probably a whole other thread that I don't really want to dive into. We've come to an agreement on what they are going to do to mitigate it, structurally and financially. The "cuddle cove" was supposed to be just a small 2' point of egress from the deep end. The extended it out about another 1.5', which ate into the swim space and caused the sharp corner. This has not been a fun process.
Plaster day!!! They came through on fixing the steps, I didn’t know how it was going to look from the rough cut, but it turned out nice. The sharp edge on the coping should be fixed this week as well.

No handrail. I don't remember the last time I swam in a pool with a handrail, other than a public pool.

I don't have one. You (or anyone) doesn't need one until they do. Could be tomorrow, next week or 10 years from now. Sprain something, tweak something, invite someone over, get older, all reasons you may need it. I've had a few relatives that I've had to help into the pool. Probably not ideal for their self-esteem. Probably 5 times in 8 years. None of them were going to be more than once a year. But it's something to consider.
