I have just finished my fifth season of pool ownership. Thank you, thank you. Anyway, the pool is gunite + plaster bottom and steps with fiberglass panel walls. The previous home owners painted the entire thing wall, bottom, and steps) before we moved in so all painted 6ish years ago. The bottom of the pool and steps are starting to delaminate in spots, and the paint on the fiberglass wall panels is looking pretty faded. I know that plaster is preferred over paint, but it would seem that I will always have to paint the walls.
My question is: do I go ahead and have the plaster re-done on the bottom and steps, expecting this to last for years, and have the walls painted to (hopefully) match the plaster every so many years that it is needed, or do I just paint the whole thing every so many years? As I mentioned with the fiberglass walls, never having to paint is out of the question.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
