My ozone (Delzone) does not work anymore. Does it NEED to be replaced or am i ok without it? I will be using the 3 step bromine system when we finally get everything set up. It's a used tub. I already bought the Ahh-some cleaner. My tub will be covered 95% of the time.
350 gallon Marquis Reward spa.

If you plan to use the 3-Step bromine method, then an ozonator is unnecessary. You'll be using bleach or dichlor to activate bromine from the bromide bank and a floater with brominating tablets to try to keep the level consistent. Ozone would only really be necessary if you were attempting to use that to create your sanitizing bromine and keep it a certain level. Most hot tub ozone generators are junk and don't last more than a year or so. Since an owner has no way of knowing if the ozonator is producing anything, they usually do fine without it and never replace them.

Just be warned that you need to do a lot of testing up from to determine how your hot responds to different conditions and how your bromine gets used up. So test frequently at first so that you can track you water chemistry accurately. Also, brominating tablets, like some forms of solid chlorine, are acidic and will lower both pH and TA over time. So make sure you are testing those values and don't be surprised if you need to add borax to increase pH or baking soda to increase TA (and pH if you add it with the air blower going).

Thank you so much! We had to replace the top control panel and I was hoping we didn’t have to buy a new ozone. Can I just take it out? Or does it need to stay connected?
What is a good test kit? I have Taylor k-2006 for my pool and test daily. I’m trying to learn everything about the hot tub like I did with the pool.
One more question, what brand sodium bromide and bromine tabs should I buy? From where? I have 12.5% liquid chlorine.
Thank you again!!

It’s a trial & error process. Fill the floater up with tablets and then set the openings to their lowest value. Test daily to see what the Br level stabilized to. Adjust the openings on the floater until you get a stable Br level.

Remember to test pH and TA as well. Bromine tablets are acidic in nature and will lower both TA and pH.
