Hi there experts,
I checked today and suspected overflow due to heavy rains in Virginia. I checked the under my mesh cover, it is sitting right on top of water.

Should I go ahead and drain some water until skimmer or peave as is?

With a mesh cover, any water in has to come out once it accumulates. I was full to the brim a few weeks ago, drained, then we got 10 inches in 2 weeks and I was full to the brim again.

The news said the other night that we were up 7 inches this month over normal, so I'm probably due again.

I tied up the pump in a bucket to hopefully drain more of the mostly rain water up top.

@ajw22 @Newdude I was wondering if there is a recommended measure in terms if how much to drain when it is full to the brim? Like up to skimmer or below returns again?

Also, do you retighten cover anchors again, or no need? I tightened them multiple times, but keep getting saggy..

You want to drain enough past the tile line that it has some leeway to fill again. I wouldn't go as deep as the returns if there is any ground water / flooding concerns. You risk the pool shell floating like a boat in those scenarios.

Is it new ? They stretch a good deal the 1st year. Tighten as necessary, you want the springs half compressed. When the water level is lower, it will sag some, particularly when wet.

Keep the water below the tile line so if you have any freezing ice does not damage tiles or grout.

The middle of the pool cover should sit on the water for support. You don’t want the cover taunt like a drum.

It is the 2nd year..pretty new. That explains why. I drained today but not until the past tile line. Will keep that in mind.

Makes sense. Will do that. Relief on the cover sagging.
