Opening my pool and want to do it real nice this time

I guess i am now monsterman because i grew up in the 60s with chiller theater and creature features with bela lugosi and boris karloff. Frankenstein and Dracula and Creature from the black lagoon and the Mummy etc. those were good days if anyone remembers them. That is why I chose that name 😄

Nobody does any hating here.

I think you had your last name in your signature, at the bottom of your posts. That is what was suggested to be removed, and a moderator did it for you.

Peeps are looking out for you.

Sorry, i was busy on a raft for the afternoon. Monte, you had your last name in your user profile. One had to click on your username, and then click on your 'about' section to pull up what you wrote. And your full name was all the way at the bottom of THAT. So not many saw it. I made it match your original username but you went with monsterman which works too. (y)

Did I see sparkles on that pool??
You most certainly did. Mont...... Ahem. Monsterman is KILLING it.

Exhibit A :

That was a flash of sparkle in person. Too bright for the camera to properly pick up. That by itself is impressive.

Good morning--- I need a clarification-- about the diluted YA test-- I just tested and it is 70 CYA. If I want to do the diluted test- I know the specifics- half pool water and halt tap water(to reach the bottom of that label)... then add the reagent to the top of the red-tipped container label. Then mix and wait 30 seconds and mix again... then multiply by 2 to get a result. If I want to do it again for verification-- I saw on a different answer by someone else's thread- that it said to pour back and forth and check again??? Does that mean to pour out the mix I just put into the CYA tube INTO a holding cylinder and pour that back into the CYA cylinder "OR"- just use the leftover mixture from the red-tipped container and test again?

There's no need to dilute the sample under 90. The test error variance is greater with the diluted sample so it will hurt for nothing gained. With a high CYA on the other hand, it's a necessary evil to have more error but get an estimated level.

Also, switch to monthly CYA tests now. The goal was to get to 70 this season and you knocked it out of the park. I have a 70 myself on purpose and the sun doesn't know the difference between our pools. (Mine has a SWG). Yours is now entirely manageable and you don't need to stalk the CYA.

You can also lower your target by several PPM when you return from the trip. You're still running the FC for a 110 CYA. It served you well, as evidenced by the literary sparkling water, but you'll have the same sparkles at 9 or 10 ppm. They'll both leave you with some insurance FC considering the current daily loss.
