Opening green pool for summer! What should I do first?!

Well, last night the FC was 20, today it was @ 18 so I added the 12 oz of bleach. We had some rain and hail until about 7pm. So I just checked and FC is 21. Im not going to add anything tonight and get numbers again in the AM. Also, I turned the SWG on and put it on BOOST, to see if it would help. Im scrubbing, vacuuming, cleaning pretty much all day. The water gets milky/ foggy and can see the bottom, but barely.

I just tested again, these were my numbers

FC 21.5
CC .5
CYA 50

The FC is .5 higher since last night, guessing that's from running SWG on BOOST. Water is still foggy.

That dark spot is the shade from the tree.

So, Ive tested the water again and I got
FC 21.5
CC .5

Not sure if I should bump up the FC to 28, CYA to 70 (its now 50), since I started running the SWG. Or just let the FC level drift down to 3 and just let the filter keep working and see if itll clear? Im working on getting the sand filter that was suggested a few days ago. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Of you are failing the overnight loss test, you should keep up the SLAM, if possible. I wouldn't bump up the CYA until the water is clear. Is your water expensive? (A dump and refill might be easier when dealing with 4000 gallons.)

Thanks for the suggestion. Im definitely not failing the OCLT. Last night it was at 20.5 and today it was 21.5. It's not really expensive, just rather not dump and refill.

Just a thought, as you've been working hard at this since around May 21 or so, and the water is still far from clear... Given the inadequacy of the stock Intex filters, you may want to consider just dumping the water, cleaning the empty pool as much as you can, and refilling. I know that may be an unwelcome suggestion after all the work you've put in, but the filtration systems sold with these pools just make it very very difficult to recover from a situation like this.

I don't remember from reading through your thread, but have you tried turning the pump off, letting the debris settle, and then vacuuming to waste? The way to do this with this type of pool is to get a siphon started, and then vacuum the debris overboard. If you haven't yet tried this, it's a more conservative approach than dumping all of the water, and definitely worth a try.

All my direct pool experience is with the equipment mentioned in my signature (and a previous 1000 gal pool with even more woefully inadequate filtration), so my suggestions come from personal experience.
