Thank you. SLAM has commenced. If the pressure hasn't climbed and the flow is still good, keep going. You have many backwashes ahead of you.
I say Jugs away! And then you'll have time for another dose before bed!

SLAM going well, water is slowly but surely clearing.
One interesting item. It’s been about 24 hours since opening/pump running....as you can see my picture, all green and algae originally.
However, resting psi remains stable. Return jets look strong. I really was anticipating multiple backwashes in the first 24 hours - especially given how green the pool was.... yet I haven’t even done one. Is this normal?
Nice! As for the backwashing, hard to tell. Much depends on the amount of material that needs ot be collected, size of the filter, etc. I would't worry too much about it for now. But not sure if this came up before ... does your pressure gauge fall to zero when the system is turned off? Just want to make sure the needle isn't stuck or bad gauge at this point.water is slowly but surely clearing.

No problem. Keep an eye on that needle when you do so.I almost want to backwash anyway because the water line is a little to high

Your choice. This morning l, FC dropped to 9 - so before adding more to get to SLAM target of 12, I ran PH (since below 10 FC) and looks like it climbed again - around 7.6. Should I had more MA or just keep pushing with the FC?
Your choice.
I probably would unless I was pressed for time, like testing before work where I didn't have time to wait between additions.
Yes, but only because it's a vinyl pool. A plaster pool might start etching at that low number. Thanks - I measured TA again to calculate how much MA to add to drop PH. TA dropped to 40 - pretty low. That ok for now?

Buy some baking soda the next time you have to buy bleach.
No. Just have it standing by for when you rebalance after the SLAM.Thanks. I added the MA. In 30 min I’ll remeasure FC then add the needed amount to continue the SLAM.
Is there any immediate need to get the TA into range? I’ll get the baking soda, but may not be for a couple of days.

Whatever is cheapest. I saw big bags of baking soda in the pool section at Walmart the other day. They probably also have big bags by the flour and such at Costco and Sam's and the like. Or grab a few boxes at the grocery store. TA isn't really a critical measurement. So if you target 60 and it asks for 6½ lbs, add 6 or 7, whichever is handiest. Maybe it'll be a 12 lb bag and you can eyeball half a bag. It doesn't have to be exact.Thanks. - Pool math says I’ll need at least 10 lbs (perhaps more if TA keeps dropping) to get it back up to 70. Any recommendations on type of baking soda/or what to get?

I'd use a digital kitchen scale, because I already own one.1. Thank you! I’m assuming unscented too - I’ve seen a few baking soda containers labeled as “unscented” so not sure what the default is.
2. You brought up a point that I had a question on. After the SLAM is complete, I’m going to raise the CYA. I recently did this for the SLAM to get it to 30 (sock currently in the skimmer). In order to do that - I had to use about 2.5 lbs of cya (out of a 5 lb bag). How do you accurately measure cya? In this case, I could just eyeball it since it was about half the bag, but in the future, if Pool math calls for more precise measurements, what’s the easier way to measure cya?
