Opened pool, it’s a green swamp

Hello,

I opened my pool, it’s a green swamp , I removed as much debris as I could see ( lots of leaves and branches, very stormy winter) . My question is what should I add to start
TA is 40
PH is 7.0
(Chlorine is 0)
Can I just add liquid chlorine and turn pump on to get things started then retest everything once it’s cleared up a bit and proceed ?

What is your CYA level?

I ask as any pool opened with low pH, no FC, and no CYA is suspect of ammonia. If you have a CYA reading, then you would not have ammonia.

So should I adjust TA first or just slam and check is FC holds according to ammonia test and go from there?

Follow the protocol to check for Ammonia as described in the article. If you have it, eliminate it first. If you do not, then raise your CYA to 30 and follow the SLAM Process
