Opened pool for my first time, installed SWG.. need some guidance

Here are the tests from this afternoon;

FC = 5.5
CC = .5
TC = 6

Salt = 3200

Any thoughts?

Ran the robot yesterday evening... man, did that pick up some stuff. Wow. Is it better to do it after the pump has been off for awhile to let whatever is in the water sink to the bottom?

I think them going at the same time is good. Dolphin picks stuff up and mixes the water. The filter gets the stuff that is mixed. :)

If it were me, given your CYA is 70, I would raise your FC with liquid chlorine and maintain FC at the top of the range...like 9 with SWCG. In Ohio, I can get FC demand from sun and swimmers of up to 5.5. 9 - 5.5 = 4.5. Gives you some buffer for high FC days. #TeamRunHot

Oh, that is a good idea.

So, for the SWG, I would have to adjust based upon how many hours the pump the %, correct? And that would add X ppm of FC over that span of time?

Looking in the pool math app, I would do in the effects section?

Yes. But raise it with liquid. maintain with SWCG

I guess the amount of FC I burn through will vary throughout the summer? What's your method to keep a higher number without going over with the SWG?
SWCG is wierd. Doesn't act like adding LC. Especially if you run 24/7, which I do. It just kinda sticks around the target number when you get it dialed in...

April/May 25%, June/July 35%, August/Sept 25%. I run with a cover. If I take the cover off and swim, I up by 15% when I take the cover off, turn it back down at the end of the day.

SWCG is a bit of a dance. If you run at the high end, you have so much more to play with. Running at 3 or 3.5 you worry. Running at 8/9/10, why worry...get a bit high, turn it down, a bit low turn it up. I test everyday, but don't fret if I miss a day or two, I know it's not going south.

Dance with your pool on a daily basis, you will learn how it dances. After a couple months, you will know it like you know your children.

After you get close to your daily demand, test every three days and watch the trend to make small adjustments to your SWCG output. Anticipate high demand and counter by adding liquid chlorine in 1 ppm amounts before and/or after unique situations like a party, young children, high debris load or a dead squirrel. Testing FC very three days will become once a week and more often only as needed.
