Hi all. I’m definitely a newbie this year, but I’m all “on-board” with the methods discussed here. I posted a few days ago wondering about how long the SLAM process might take. Quick backstory, opened the pool just over a week ago. Filled it back up. Water was cloudy. New sand in my filter, using a 1.5 Hp pump single speed pump.

I have had the pump running 24/7 since last Saturday. The water has lost all of it’s greenish color. Definitely blue now, and that’s good news, but it’s just cloudy for lack of a better word.

I’m following every step. Brushing a couple times a day, I’ve vacuumed a few times. Testing 2-3 times a day and adding chlorine as recommended by the app. To me the water looks better, but it’s just not clear. When I brush the bottom, it’s very hazy down there. Tried to take a pic, but the reflections won’t do it justice.

I’m just wondering if there is anything else I can do? I’m scared to see my electric bill.

Would the new sand in the filter be clouding the water? I backwashed and rinsed before I ever set it to filter.

Take some of these. You are on track, doing everything you need to. It just takes time. Be sure to inspect every inch of that pool though. Under main drain covers, behind a light with a hollow niche, etc. If you have any hollow steps or ladders remove those as well. You'll get it. :goodjob:
