One way check valve not opening at low rpm

I'm trying to dial my vsp Pentair 3hp pump down low and the one way check valve on the 12" raised hot tub will only open at 1600 rpm. I see here a lot of people running them at 1100. My question to the pros is can I remove the springs and bend them to make it easier to open? It's the clear top flapper type valve you can see 2 green springs. Thanks

Doesn't happen on mine. The transient back flow of water and pressure exerted on the flapper is enough to close it and seal it.

If your flapper won't close without the springs, then maybe remove one spring and see if it helps?

Is your check valve installed horizontally or vertically? Sometimes just a small incline can prevent them from closing even when horizontal.

Also it isn't totally necessary that it fully opens either. What was the change in filter PSI (might be too low to tell)? When I removed the springs with my two speed, on low speed there wasn't that much of PSI change to make it worth it.

Vertical makes it tougher when the hinge is on the top. But I am surprised that no water flows at 1500 RPM. There should be more than enough pressure to open a flapper check valve. What brand is it? I think the Jandy check valves open at around 0.25 PSI. What is the height of the check valve relative to the spa water level.

It has a 1/2 lbs spring so it really shouldn't take much to open but maybe one spring will do it.
