Hello pool friends.

After a 2+ year project, I finally have water in my rehabbed pool...and have most of my pool equipment re-installed/upgraded.

I chose to upgrade from a AquaLogic board to the OminPL upgrade kit. All seems to be working well, except for the pump. I have a MaxFlo 2700 VSP pump that was manufactured in October of 2016. I was able to fix the wiring so that the configuration wizard was able to recognize the HUA of the pump. However, the only way that I can get the pump to work is in service mode. I followed the instructions to disconnect the control panel on the pump and only be serviced by the OmniPL board, but that did not work either. When in service mode, I had to connect the display on the pump in order to control it.

When I exit out of service mode, the pump is still recognized and visible, but when I turn it on using the wired control pad (or the mobile app), the pump never switches on.

I have verified that the pump is directly wired to the breaker (no relays) and also attempted to shut everything down for 15+ minutes, but the pump still only works in service mode.

I have also updated the firmware of the OminPL system (4.4.1), so don't believe that is the issue either.

Any other thoughts/advice? Happy to post pictures if it would help.

Thanks in advance.
Matt

Yes, the speed was set for 2700 RPM.

I went back to mess around with it again, and noticed that the HUA was missing when I edited the pump configuration.

I tried deleting the entire setup and starting over, but now cannot seem to get the pump's HUA to show up again.

I have turned everything off for now...going to try again.

For reference, I was using this guide for the wiring. I believe I read somewhere that the instructions might not be correct, but tried several different combinations of the three wires...none of worked so far.

Hayward has seen some instances where the HUA from a Gen 3 VS pump was not visible to the Omni control.

These instances have occurred after:

  • A power brownout
  • The pump was installed with incorrect dipswitch position and the dipswitch was moved while power to the pump was still on.
Once Power was restored, or the pump powered down and back up the HUA would not populate into the control.

Solution that Hayward found is that power needs to be turned off to the pump for a MINIMUM of 5 minutes and as much as 15 minutes to allow the drive to reset. Once power is restored the HUA was visible to the Omni and the pump worked normally.

@ChrisLPC may have ideas.

Yes anytime you move the dip switches the pump needs to remain off for about 15 minutes to reset the drive.

You have the black and white wires reversed.

From the bottom it needs to be white, red, black.

Ok...making some progress...I was able to get the pump recognized...but when I was running through the configuration wizard, I had to first turn on the HVR1 for the pump, and then select the HUA that popped in for the pump.

When I finished the configuration, I exited from Service Mode and tried to start the pump.

Looks like I need a flow sensor, and there is an alarm indicating the pump lost HUA connection.

Should the pump not be hooked up to the HVR?

Here is a picture of the error ...

Yes, you need a flow sensor or pump will be turned off after 15 minutes.

Yes, not hooked to HVR.

You lost HUA when HVR turned off power to the pump. VS pumps should get continuous power.
