Hello. I'm new to the forum so if this is not the place for this kind of post, sorry.
We just moved in to a home with an ~18x36 in ground steel sided pool with an auto cover. I believe it was built in 1970 with the home. It currently has no liner and no water.
I have been learning what I can about pools and think I have a pretty good understanding of steel walled pool construction and the installation process of a new pool and believe I have deduced how this pool was constructed as well.
The reason for my post today is to get some input on how an expert might go about handling a renovation of this pool and/or what is recommended to be completed before filling it.
Concerns I have-
1. No liner, looks like steps where lined as well.. kind of a flat bottom pool.. possible to order
this custom?
2. Side and end walls bowing in, steel walls seem to be bowing in. Has anyone had any luck fixing them? I have heard you can excavate behind them and push them plumb but haven't heard of anyone actually doing this.
3. How do you winterize a pool with bottom jets? There are air fittings on the pump side but I don't understand how you would leave water in this and winterize the lines with a long pvc pipe from the jet extending past the water line.
4. Water leaks in to the pool from under the floor and bottom of the steel walls when it rains. I would plan to patch with hydraulic cement but is that enough?
4a. With all the cracking on the floor would you expect it to be completely sealed, cracks ground out and patched or better to replace?
I'm sure I have more questions but that's what I can think of for now.. any comments, advice, stories, experience, would be very much appreciated.
