Hi, I've been a member for a long time but don't post, just usually read learning all I can from all the experienced members here. But this year I am having issues with my pool and needed some input. It seems to be using an awfully lot of liquid chlorine this year. I've always used liquid chlorine but usually just portions of a gallon a day would maintain levels at proper amount. This year the pool is requiring a gallon a day. Is this normal?? My tests this morning showed the following:
FC: 4
CYA: 40

PH: 7.5
TA: !00
Calcium : 50
CC: 0
A month ago I did have an issue with algae but after slamming for 10 days, all 3 tests showed clear. The water is crystal clear. . Thanks for any help.

Connie,

4FC is flirting with minimums. My guess is that you let FC get too low and have algae. In the future, keep your FC closer to 7.

To confirm algae or not (even if you can't see it), do this test tonight. Link-->Overnight Chlorine Loss Test

If you fail, time to SLAM. Link-->SLAM Process
