Old liquid chlorine question

My neighbor gave me a gallon of liquid chlorine that's about 1.5 years old, it was in a big plastic container outside, and has experienced our full range of 20 degree winters and 100 plus summers. Its definitely lost a lot of its effectiveness, takes about 3 -4 times the amount as fresh chlorine for the same effect, and it smells old. It's free, so I figured I may as well use it up. Is there any issue with that? I've already used it a few times and haven't seen any negative effects, other than having to use way more than usual.

5k gallon above ground vinyl pool, if it matters.

I thought about that too before I posted this, but I have yet to see, other than during my algae bloom last year, anything above .5 cc (which is one drop, so really I dont think it's even .5 cc, and usually it doesnt register any cc).

Old chlorine does nothing different than new chlorine, it's just weaker. It won't do anything weird to your CC level.
