Okay to let pump run over night?

Just got new pump running and pool is completely filthy. Is it okay to let the pump run over night or should I shut it off and wait until morning so I can empty baskets every couple hours?

I've run my pump 24/7 for a couple weeks last year

If you're worried about skimmer plugging up just run off the main drain, if you have one.

Not sure how to run off the main drain. I'm a pool newb. I have two baskets under covers next to the pool. I bet both will be full soon

you should have some valves by the pool pump. each valve controls skimmers and drains. experiment to see which valve does what.

of course, you may only have 1 valve, in that case your sol.

you can jerry rig chicken wire covering the skimmer to stop big debris falling into basket.
