I decided to go TFP this season, so about 6 weeks ago when I opened my (relatively clean) pool and found CYA at 120, I did a 2/3 drain and refill, followed by a SLAM. That overall process took a bit over a week, got me to CYA 40, and things were great.

Over the next few weeks, the weather was terrible, and several torrential downpours had water overflowing the skimmer and me draining several inches to get to the appropriate level. CYA now at 30. Resolved to leave it this way so I can use a bunch of pucks in the feeder later in the summer when we're gone for 2+ weeks.

Prior to going away this past weekend, I raised FC to 12, put the cover on, and left the pump set to run 4 hrs during the day and 2 hrs overnight. We came home yesterday morning to a pool that was only 2/3 full. Thankfully it wasn't a leak in the liner, but rather a hose that had popped off our heater (new hose clamps this season appear to have stretched after their initial tightening, because they were all loose). Reconnected everything and refilled, CYA is now <20.

So just over a month after having drained my pool to remove CYA, I find myself with a sock containing 1.75lbs of stabilizer dangling in front of my return. I can literally taste the irony. :p

Couldn’t resist. But I’m sympathetic to your situation..

Today, I saw that my ironing board cover was wrinkled. I laughed at the irony. Then I laughed again because irony has the word iron in it. Even more ironic is that I dont do ironing
