Oddball Question CYA Reagent

Finishing up first summer with a pool and getting ready to close if the water temp would ever drop below 74 (Central Illinois). I have been using an HTH test kit this summer but will be lloking for a Taylor kit next year. Problem is I am all out of CYA reagent for the HTH kit. Dont want to buy the Taylor kit too soon and let it sit until april so I am wondering if CYA reagent = CYA reagent?

HTH isnt going to sell just the reagent but I can get taylor reagent for under $10 (enough to close the pool) if it will work with my HTH tube. Seems to me like it should but I'm asking the experts.

Thanks I couldnt see any reason it wouldnt. I'm looking for a taylor kit but hate to let it sit for 6 months this winter...Undoubtedly my wife will run across it in the house this winter and throw it out in the garage because anything of mine is a MESS that has to be moved/banished to the garage/basement (where it will frquently be lost for years) while I stumble over her bags full of bargins from TJMAXX every time I try to go the bathroom.........the joys of marriage

The cya reagent is one of the most stable ones if stored properly.
In the spring tftestkits runs a sale so its a great time to get a kit.

I unfortunately ran out of liquid chlorine about 3/4 weeks ago and have had pucks in. Want to make sure my levels are all good before I put the thing to bed for the winter. Most stores around me are out of liquid at this time so I may end up ordering some in.
