General recommendation is to test FC (and pH) soon after collecting a sample. Why chance it -- if the FC goes down in the night sample, you'd get a false pass. And, now that I think about it, the same algae that might be eating chlorine in the pool is probably going to eat it in the bottle too. Much better to test each sample when you collect it.
