OB in VEGAS - Another one!!!! :)

HA Chewie is adorable!!! We have four dogs: Two Siberian Huskies, the chocolate lab and a beagle. I am partial to the huskies but the lab is very sweet, they will all be enjoying the pool especially the wet deck so I will have to get some mesh for the baskets to catch all the fur :)..

We were also going to go with a free form but after evaluating how we will be using the pool a rectangular with a large wet deck made more sense for us.

Those are some nice looking pups, especially the lab! Our guy has the sad / shy lab face perfected as well. A large sun shelf is definitely something we'll want for our pool, so I think we'll just have to toss around design ideas for both pool styles and see what sticks.

Hey all its been awhile but I had nothing to update with but now we have a HOLE!!! Exciting times and truly amazing to watch them move all that dirt. While they where here I decided to have them level and grade the entire yard instead of just the pool area it was well worth it but it took an extra day and 20 full truck loads of dirt! We also hit some hard ground at 5ft but were able to get through it in only 3.5 hrs so not to bad.

We we changed the plans a little by deleting the long bench in the front and adding 4 bar stools with a coping overhang for a place to set drinks ext. I also added 2 LED laminars to the east side that will balance bubblers on the west, moved the water / fire features back to be inline with the pool elimating the two dead spots, and went with a final depth of 3'6" to 6'6" after the 14"wet deck. I changed the automation to the intellitouch I+9 for so I can run all the features independently and still have future expandability.

My thoughts for the plumbing are to have two 3hp vs pumps with one running the Pool, Spa, infloor and future solar and the other running the 2 36in sheers, 2 bubblers, 2 Laminar that will be on a separate loop bypassing the filter / heater with a pick up on the side of the pool. I came up with that solution by searching this site and I am open to suggestions ?. I am also going with 2 1/2 plumbing.

If we stay on schedule plumbing, steel and rough electric should be done in about 10days.

Here re are some dig pics:

Sure can't say "Let the MUD begin" with this one LOL

I like the changes you made. Nice move.

SO they brought in dirt to level the whole yard then took dirt out when they dug the pool? Bet it was MUCH easier to do it that way!

We actually had so much dirt on the west side of the yard we had to truck OUT 20 loads after we used as much as we could to level the yard....

Ha thanks Will!! Hey how are those glow brights working for you? Do they put out a lot of light? I was thinking of putting one or two on my wet deck since a full size light won't fit. My other thought was to put a pentair 5g spa led in there?

Hey all question / update on the plumbing: I am running 2 1/2in pipe for the whole pool except for the infloor which will be 2in per the manufacture. All of the water features will be on a dedicated VS pump with a separate suction and will not go through the filter or heater. I have read a ton of posts on this site regarding a separate pump / loop only for the spa that bypasses the eqp pad. I spoke with my plumber about it and he said it is not needed, with 2 1/2 pipe, a 3hp VS pump and an 1hp blower the spa will be great, he said can do a spa bypass with another pump but he thinks its a waste of $. The run from my equipment pad to the spa will be about 90ft. Thank you in advance for the insight.

I only have globrites in my pool and I couldn't be happier. They work on the same smart controls so they are easy to control. Also they are not really noticeable in the pool and blend in during the day which is nice. I would 100% put one on the wet deck so you have full coverage lighting or else you will have dark spots.
Also globrites are the way of the future for pool lights and won't blind you while swimming:)
Hope that helps

Been making good progress so I wanted to post an update. Plumbing , steel and rough electrical done. Passed inspection today and now it's time to schedule gunite. I have to say all of the subs have been great with the plumbers and diggers being the BEST! They work so hard, do quaillity work and charge a fair price. If anyone in vegas needs a good sub list let me know.

I will be testing my fill ill water soon and will post some results. Thanks for following along!!!

Nice to hear about a good build and good workers! I hope you can help someone else in your area with their names!

Will you be able to go to the filter to get to it to clean or will you have to play twister?

Kim:kim:

Jeevs,
Are you city or county. I'm city and have to do "worst case" engineering. Doubles my engineering costs.

I'm county and have been surprised how easy my dealings with them have been. Im sorry to hear the city is such a pain...

Will do for sure, I have a full list for whoever wants it. As for the twister..... Maybe a little, the pic makes it look more cramped than it is.

Thanks Will!!! I was so busy with life I didn't get back and check for your reply in time. I am glad to hear the Glowbrights are a good choice as I put one on the step to my wet deck and one inside each bubbler. However for the main pool I put in two of the full size pentair LED's and was really debating on putting another glow bright on the deep side of the pool to avoid a dark spot in the far corner away form the house. After the wet deck there is about 32ft of pool with two lights spaced evenly facing away from the home and I keep going back and forth on adding a third... What do you think?

Hey all! It's. It's been a while but I have made some progress! Last week I made some revisions to the plumbing and electric , back filled, leveled and laid the shotcrete. All was preaty smooth except about 1/2 way through the shoot a hose broke and sprayed shotcrete all over the yard and some got on the side of the house. All good since it was all cleaned up but because of the broken hose some of the floor was just pumped in over the shotcrete. I saw them and went out to ask about it and was told it's standard practice, hmm. They were done with the nosel and out of shotcrete plus it was 5pm they underestamated the job and were beat. The Forman promised it is fine and said he will fix if there is a problem, still makes me a little nervous. I have been watering like crazy since it's been over 100 degrees every day and the pool gets full sun almost all day. No big cracks yet so I guess it's working what do you think?. I plan on giving it about 10 days before coping and tile then a full 28 days before the mini pebble is that standard? This week it's waterline tile, patio cover and leveling the yard for the pavers.

Thanks for following along and offering your insights.

There have been many pools that were shot in two more more trips. It will be fine. We even had one where the PO wanted the area under his slide to be higher so he could stand there and catch his kids so they added some gunite to that area. The plaster will go over all of it and you will never know it was shot more than once.
