Hi, our pool contractor finished our pool finish approximately 3 weeks ago. When he finished, we told him his finish doesn’t look like the finish we selected. He assured us it was correct and it will take approximately 30 days for the mini pebbles to become exposed and look like the sample we picked. Now he is telling us the finish needs to be polished which requires draining the pool. Is it possible that the pool contractor is correct and the pebbles are going to be exposed after 30 days or after some sort of polishing and actually look like the sample we selected ? This is our first pool and have no experience with pool finishes. Thanks for any possible help.

This is the finish before we added water. This is the finish today on the sun ledge.

The color sample and the color of the finished product (last picture) are far apart from the pictures provided.
First item I notice is that the exposed aggregate is not as thick as the sample so you are seeing more of the plaster color (base that holds the pebble in place) than the exposed aggregate color.
Picture #3 shows a large area of missing aggregate.
The polishing may bring out more color but the fact that the amount of exposed aggregate may be the result of not matching the sample color that was chosen.
