My spa has some stains, not horrible but noticeable and livable. I am not sure what these stains are made of..they are caramel colored, brownish (I'll get a picture soon). I had been thinking about draining my spa and doing a very light acid wash on the marcite....like 20% MA and 80% water. Spray/brush and refill the spa.

Interestingly....the other day I had a nutrient "Nature Valley brand" Potassium pill that I forgot to take (helps with muscle cramps) ...it was in my Tee shirt pocket and the pill fell into the Spa seat/sitting level when I was putting the shirt back on. I saw it the next day....it was 90% dissolved....and for about 6 inches around the pill remnants in all directions the stains were gone. Whoa?

Interesting...Potassium stain remover? Hmmm, maybe I'll try it again...put a few in a sock?
Any problem with Potassium in the pool? I'll check the label for the milligrams amount.

It’s just potassium gluconate (main ingredient). The gluconate anion is known to chelate metal ions, especially Fe3+. Your stains are most likely iron.

Use ascorbic acid to remove them. Save the potassium supplements for yourself.
