So I fired up the pump on our new agp and couldn't get it to prime. I looked in the skimmer basket and found this thing bobbing around. I tried putting it in place but then the water wasn't high enough to completely fill the tube (some air was getting in on top, just barely). I think the water levels correct, it's about 3-4 inches above the bottom of the skim box.
I'm assuming suction is supposed to hold it on? I don't see any locking mechanism to keep it on. Problem is, when the pump shuts off the piece falls off. I know I'm not gonna pump 24 hrs a day, so how's this supposed to stay on?
The pump was a pain to prime. Does it need to be primed every time I turn it on (daily?)
The pump is working perfect now, but without this piece.
Do I need to add even more water to get above the top of the tube? Or can I just leave this piece out?
Again though, what keeps this from falling off when the pump is off?
Thanks!
