Noob - flocc problem - sry

Hi guys

So I’m brand new to this forum and trying to learn about the slam process.

But before I found this site, I’d already added back to blue to my pool. I have a lot of flocc at the bottom of my pool (20K gallon in ground salt water). I’m trying to get it vacuumed out to waste but it’s taking a very long time.

What’s my next step here before I start SLAM? Just keep vacuuming? Add more flocc since I’m already deep in it? The particles are already starting to break apart now and so I’m just not sure what to do now before I can do the slam process.

So sorry, I feel like a dummy lol

Please. DO NOT ADD MORE FLOCCCULANT.

Turn the pump off for 6 hours, let the floc settle, SLOWLY vacuum to waste. It may take several cycles to get it out. You want the majority of it out before you SLAM.

Why type of filter do you have?
What were the exact brand and product that you have added recently? (List everything).
Finally, how are you testing your water?

Thank you for this! I will not add more floc and do as you instructed to try and get what’s in there, out.

I have a pentair sand filter.

I have used 2 pool life back to blue shock kits so far with shock and flocculant each time. Have done that twice so far.

I just ordered a Taylor k 2006 salt testing kit that will arrive tomorrow.

I will try to get most of it out. What’s considered an “ok” amount to be remaining before I start the slam process?

You want to get the vast majority out.
Did you filter with the FLOC in the pool?

I did not run to filter. It’s just been on circulate since the floc was added.
