Noisy bubbly returns

So it seems like I fixed the pump basket water.

But my returns are still noisy and bubbly.

Well not sure. We opened the pump basket and cleaned out the o ring area. It had some small leafy stuff. Looked for anything unusual in there. Found nothing. Turned it back on, the pump was priming ( is that right?) realized it was time to backwash. So we did that too.

Outstanding!

It doesn't take much of a leak to really mess things up.

Consider something you've experienced: a bent drinking straw. Somehow it develops a hairline crack and you can't suck your drink. Now consider just how much water that pump is moving -- you had to have seen that massive flow when you backwashed. Even a blade of grass trapped between the lid and the O-ring can create problems.

Howdy... FWIW, I turned off the pump tonight to empty the basket strainer. Before I could open it up, I saw air bubbles entering from one of the cover's corners. Opened it and there was a tiny pebble mashed between the cover and gasket. That would certainly explain the bubbles I've been seeing for the past few days. Guess these things happen... and life goes on!
