If that is alage, you did not pass. I typically perform multiple oclt before saying I passed. Why is your cya so high? How are you chlorinating the pool during slam? You mentioned above you did not maintain the proper slam level 35, you can shoot for higher than slam for quicker results.
We have a vinyl pool, 12x24x52, 8400gl. Pool math shows recommended cya 60-90, ideal is 70-80. The FC stayed mostly near 35, dropped to 32 at some times while we were away during the day.

I'm going to redo the slam. The pool is not covered, there are no trees in our backyard, and there are 2 shade sails covering about 40% of pool. Only thing that makes it in there are mostly beetles, and small flower blooms that blow from some crape myrtles in front yard.

@loudgonzo Can you please fill in your signature like I have below with all that pertain to pool and equipment. Use the link in my signature. Since I don't know what filter you have you'd need to clean it out. For a sand filter you'd need to do a good backwash. For a cartridge you'd have to open the filter, remove the cartridges and clean them well with a garden hose. For DE, depending on the filter and the valve associated with it there are different methods. Had the signature been complete this reply would have more direct procedures.

Thanks, just updated.
Restarted slam about an hour ago, no ladder, no magnetic light, all empty as before.

Starting numbers are
FC-11
pH-7.5, added muriatic acid to lower to 7.2
cya-80
ch-140

last week, Cya was 90, and target fc was 35, now showing target of 31 with cya of 80. I added the required chlorine about an hour after adding the muriatic acid to lower the ph, but I did not recheck the pH level beforehand. If this will be an issue I can restart again, but from what I've read, it shouldn't be too much of a problem...since only the FC and CC are checked during the slam....?

I think because because the sun burns off chloramines.

But, because the man said so.
