Have an inground saltwater pool. I have used a pool service company since i have owned my home, but with COVID have had to start taking care of it myself. If anyone could help steer me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
Saltwater Inground Pool approx 17,500 gallons
Pool is green with algae at the moment....
Tested water chemistry with Taylor K-2006 kit and here are my readings.
PH - 8.0
Free Chlorine = 0
Total Alkalinity - 70ppm
Calcium Hardness = 140 ppm
CYA = 40 ppm
Salinity read 3000ppm on my Hayward Aqua Plus
I thought the salt was far off from that reading so i purchased the Taylor K-1766 test kit and performed the test:
Salanity = 4,600 ppm
It's also worth mentioning that my hayward salt cell is 6 years old and i thought that may be the problem. I purchased a brand new salt cell but have not installed it yet as i thought the high salt levels may damage the cell.
If anyone could help me with balancing the water chemistry, getting rid of the algae, and when to install the new salt cell i would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks much!
