Ive had my pool for about 10 years, so newbie to the fact that I never took much of an interest in maintaining it the correct way. So when things start to happen, test for chlorine, test PH, test TA, that was it. Then as kids entered college, life got hectic, test Chlorine. Then life got busier, wife got sick and it came down to a visual check. Now its so out of whack things are happening I dont understand, so here I am! Im 56, work for FedEx (30 years) and I seriously am clueless.

 Welcome to TFP!!!

You have made the first step toward pool enlightenment

The key to this understand does require an investment in one of the recommended test kits. The TF-100 is the best deal. This will more than pay for itself with 1 skipped trip to the pool store ;)
