I would try to vacuum to waste, anything visible, if possible.
So what is the exact process…

Add chlorine to get to slam level
Vacuum what we see to waste
Brush like crazy
Check levels
Add chlorine.
Repeat

My question is why am I vacuuming if when I brush the Crud out of the floor it’s all suspended in the water? Just seems time consuming considering vacuuming to waste will need more water added.

The exact process is in the link at the end of this paragraph. Print it out, Read it three times and keep it with you. Printed really helps. Follow it step by step. Link-->SLAM Process

Vacuum to filter. It will take the dead stuff out.

Ok. So the dead algae will eventually stop showing up once all algae is dead and Slam is done?

Our current FC is 15.5 (we raised the SWG due to a kids pool party) and our PH looks to be at the 8.2 point on the test. Would that be off since the FC is high?
We are going to be starting the SLAM process today or tomorrow due to algae. We will be turning the SWG off when we start the SLAM.
I want to make sure the PH is accurate so the SLAM works the best. Would the current FC level be effecting the PH and do I need to adjust the PH before starting the SLAM? Thanks!

Yep, that's the point!
Ok I am baffled. I started the SLAM yesterday morning. Added first amount of chlorine and brushed. Tested every 3 hrs and added as needed. The FC only dropped maybe 2-3 ppm each time. Tested last night at 9:30 and FC was up to 25. Woke up and tested and it was still 25. I went ahead and brushed and didn’t add anything. I just tested again at 11:00 and the FC is 24.5. The algae is back in the same spots they were in their morning and every other day. Our CC has always been 0 this entire time. Before slam and now. Could it be I’m not dealing with algae?? Even though it comes back within 2-3 hours in the same exact spots?? Water is clear as can be and has been the entire time. Here are my current tests results …

FC-24.5
CC-0
PH-7.5
TA-80
CYA-50

Let the FC drop to 10 ppm or less and then retest pH and TA. Adjust as necessary.

I haven’t added anything else yet. I just tested again with new R-0870 and R-0871 because my other 871 was almost out. Totally different ready. It’s showing I have 30 FC. Again confused. How do I go from 25 to 30 in a few hours? How am I supposed to trust these testing materials?

With experience you will get more consistent drop sizes and the results will be more consistent.

Also, any CYA over 50 ppm is difficult to follow the SLAM process.

Your new bottle of R0871 may be giving you small drops. Go slowly, no pressure on the bottle. Even try wiping around the tip with a damp cloth to start.

Ok thanks
